Art In The Fulton Community Church

A Stained Glass Mural In The Fulton Community Church

This stained glass mural is a great one in the Fulton Community Church. As a kid I would always stare at the stained glass in church and try to think about how the artist came up with what they did. A couple of years ago I learned about the work in Lafayette by Edna Browning Ruby. She designed a lot of the early church stained glass. Grace The Streets used her to inspire his mural on Cincinnati street a couple of years ago. I don’t feature enough stained glass on the blog. It is not the easiest to get access to and photograph. You need the right conditions to do it right. Here it all seemed to work out for me.

A Story Behind The Photo

This photo probably should never have happened. It was in a town I have never been to before, and maybe never again. I was passing through on my way home from a softball tournament. I stopped to make a photo of a random door and then this church caught my eye. I made a photo of the outside of it, and I was ready to be on my way. That was when Teresa stopped me to ask about what I was doing. She asked in a good way and offered to let me see the inside of the church. This blog features a new church every Sunday with no words along with it. I don’t want to seem to endorse any kind of religion. I let the church speak for itself. For this peace though I wanted to highlight the kind nature of a stranger to welcome me into their church.

  1. Our interest while traveling is to see a lot of architecture in a city, especially historical, especially churches. The last one that we saw was Notre Dame de Lourdes in Casablanca, Morocco. The stained glass in the church was amazing!
