Road To Omaha

Throwback Photo

This photo was taken in 2004 while I was living in Iowa. I had a rare weekend off, and I chose to spend it traveling. Going somewhere new might be stressful for some people, but it is how I relax. I have always followed the College World Series, and that year I was able to see it in person. I took the road to Omaha (Interstate 80) to historic Rosenblatt Stadium. I had seen the stadium many times on TV, but never in person. I was very excited to see the ballgame, but I had one quick stop before entering the stadium. I wanted to see this statue that I had seen on TV many times. I saw a great game, and also Kurt Suzuki and his Cal State Fullerton team win the title. That was the team I was rooting for going in, but a Texas fan gave me a Texas hat once I was in my seat so my feelings were a bit mixed. The College World Series is a great event that you have to see at least once.

Technical Data

This was taken with a point and shoot so I could not do much to the photo. I didn’t like my composition so I decided to change the orientation of the photo. I thought that too many people in the shot were distracting. I liked the new orientation very much, and it cleaned up the picture for me. The next step was to apply the light sports filter in Lightroom to add a bit to the picture. I think that it did, and I am happy with the final result.
