Day 67: Back to Normal

Today was another day that I had little time to take a picture. Part of getting some followers also comes a pressure to have a great picture everyday. I have been trying to avoid taking pictures around the house as the weather is still fairly good. When it turns ugly I can see the need to stay inside. Today I revisited a barn that I saw earlier in the year. I wanted a picture that day, but the light was gone already. Today I saw a nice sunset, but it really did not pan out. As the light was fading I found the barn again and took this shot. I actually found a better angle this time that still showed off the barn, but also hid the modern house that is behind it. Part of the fun of this challenge is finding my way around a new town. You had to know after a couple days of no HDR or barns that I was due. Unless a good situation arises I may retire from the barns for a while. That being said a really great barn may bring me out of retirement faster than Brett Favre.

  1. Oh wow, what a fantastic shot. I so disagree that it didn’t pan out I love the drama of the sky, it gives it space. I have to say, I’m looking forward to seeing some barns covered and surrounded by snow.

    1. I think that I have been spending too many hours on Google+ looking at professional images lately. When you see all the great things from around the world you wonder how you can get close to that here. Thanks for the kind words.

  2. I really like the shot up to about the top of the tree. After that the clouds just turn too dark for my taste. Apparently the clouds not turning over grey and black is one of the big issues of HDR, and I haven’t figured out how to avoid it. (I know there is a way, but I haven’t found it or figured it out) But overall, I like the photo, I’d really like to see it cropped just above the tallest tree just to see what it looks like that way.

You did a great job of getting an interesting subject and while the sunset is starting to get low, I love the contrast of the colors of the sunset against the rest of the photo.

    1. On a great day I usually go just a little darker with my exposures. With the light fading maybe I should overexpose just a little to get rid of the dark clouds. That is something that I should have tried today.
