Carnegie Library – Oxford, Indiana

The Oxford Public Library

This week is all about looking back at my early Carnegie Library photos. For some reason it has taken me a while to post these images. They were all made on softball trips in 2024. That was a busy year so I can see the photos kind of getting buried. I liked these images though so it makes sense to finally post them. This one in particular is one that I have tried to model more since I made it.

Another Carnegie Library Week

This week my afternoon theme will be all about Carnegie Libraries again. The story of how these libraries came to be is fascinating. In the early 1900’s Andrew Carnegie funded the building of more than 1,600 libraries in the United States. The towns that wanted one just had to pledge about 10% of the cost to build it, and promise to keep it up. A few of the libraries have been lost over the years. One of my goals when I travel is to document the remaining libraries when I cross paths with them. This week is all about five of those libraries.
