The Warsaw Carnegie Library
I made this photo early in my quest to find these little gems. I was still not sure exactly what I was going to do with my project. In the two years since I made this photo the project has become a little clearer to me. Later this year I will be back in Warsaw with another chance to see this library. It will be fun to see how I look at it differently now.
Another Carnegie Library Week
This week my afternoon theme will be all about Carnegie Libraries again. The story of how these libraries came to be is fascinating. In the early 1900’s Andrew Carnegie funded the building of more than 1,600 libraries in the United States. The towns that wanted one just had to pledge about 10% of the cost to build it, and promise to keep it up. A few of the libraries have been lost over the years. One of my goals when I travel is to document the remaining libraries when I cross paths with them. This week is all about five of those libraries.
