A Red-Bellied Woodpecker At The Purdue Wildlife Area

Trying To Find Wildlife At The Purdue Wildlife Area

It is always hard trying something new. My first trip to the Purdue Wildlife Area was not a really good one. I really struggled to just find my way around the place. I operate on limited time so I have to be efficient with what I do. I only have about 2 1/2 hours from when I drop my little one off until I have to pick her up. Heading out on 26 to the Purdue Wildlife Area was not too crazy, but it did take some time away from what I could do there. I decided to just try and find one portion of the area and concentrate on that. Of course nothing really was anywhere near where I picked. This lone red-bellied woodpecker saved the day. I was a little too far away for the encounter, but it was the only one that I had so I will take it.

Taking A Loss

I shoot a lot of sports. I make photographs whether the team wins or loses. When I am out doing something like this I like to come away with at least something from my efforts. I walked a long way with nothing to show for it but a couple of woodpecker photos. I think that I need to research this area before I head back out there. I didn’t let that stop me though. As you will see tomorrow I went out to Prophetstown the next day and actually did alright.
