Photo of the Day

Today’s photo is one that I have tried several times with many different cameras. I really thought that with my new 60D and a wide angle lens that I could get the shot that I wanted. Of course I tried this shot on a gameday so I had to fight a crowd to get what I wanted. It is farther away now, but I need to get back on campus when few people are around to get this shot when I can spend some time doing it. This was a quick slide down and snap operation. I think with some time to prepare I could get a very nice shot here.

Technical Data

This is a three shot HDR that was created in Photomatix Pro. At the 32 bit preview screen I saved the image, and had it open up in Lightroom so that I could use the sliders there. It was really a challenge to get the detail of the underside of the dome itself along with the balcony below it. I think that I did a pretty decent job here, but I still think that I could do better. I also performed a crop to make the photo square. I think that it looked a bit better that way.
