Photo of the Day
Tonight we went to eat in downtown Lafayette. After dinner we stopped by McCord Candies to get a little snack. I grabbed a vanilla phosphate that reminded me of my Catholic School days. We also picked up some old fashioned candy. This picture was actually taken while that was going on. There is something about this little candy shop that I really wanted a photo of. The first time I was there it was way too crowded. Tonight it had just the right amount of people in it.
A funny story about the phosphate that I bought is that on the way home the cup holder tore the styrofoam, and I had to drink it while plugging the hole with my hand. All was not lost though as I could still enjoy a lot of my drink.
Technical Data
This is a return to form for me so to speak. I took three shots in the darker building each two stops apart. Instead of holding the camera by hand I decided to place it on a convenient railing. That worked out well for me as I got the shot that I wanted without taking in a bulky tripod. I actually edited this picture a few times. I had my brother’s mac, and I tried a few different programs to see what they could do for me. I liked the results, but not the watermarks they left behind. I have the licensed software on my current laptop so why not do it all again? I was very impressed with how fast the mac worked. I really could be done a lot quicker each night with that. I could have the entire picture uploaded, edited, and posted in the time it takes my to load it now. You don’t realize just how slow your system is until you try a faster one. I did run this through Photomatix much the same way that I used to. I tonemapped the picture, but I started a bit differently then I have been lately. I used the painterly preset, and then toned it down a bit to get things a little more realistic. This is a bit like my older pictures, but that is the kind of mood I was in today.
I used to work here for a few years. candy canes are the best ever. your friends from womens basketball.
