Last night I saw a very cool moon that I just knew would look cool in HDR. I tried to get the picture so that the moon and the clouds looked great. It just did not come out in HDR. Way too much noise in the picture. I guess I need to step down the ISO and use the tripod, but the cloud was passing so time was short. I barely got the above picture before a cloud obscure the moon. I just ended up using one of the single shots for today’s picture since the HDR did not work out.
I tried the same thing and had the same result! (Even with a tripod) The issue I ran into is that to get a good Moon picture, you have to use like a 1/2000 shutter speed and severely underexpose it, or you get the giant glowing orb. But if you want ANYTHING else to show up, you have to waaay overexpose the moon.
It seems almost impossible to switch all those shots without moving the camera and my attempts failed miserably 😦
Not to mention those clouds that night were booking it across the sky.
