Capturing Emotion For Fifteen Years

Everything Changed Fifteen Years Ago This Weekend

Fifteen years ago Sunday everything changed for me. I used a GroupOn for a photography course at Navy Pier. I had been using my Canon Rebel camera for a while at that point, but just kind of guessing at what I was doing. I just put it in TV mode and let it do the work. I really had no idea what I was doing. That simple class called Capturing True Emotion taught me how to use my camera. We talked about the exposure triangle. We practiced this thing called panning. We talked about getting emotion into your photos. Does any of this sound familiar? These are things that I still use today. I took that excitement for photography and really started to put that into photos. By that fall I was so excited about photography that I would start this blog.

A Life Changing Day

While on a break during my class my brother called me up to talk to me about a job in Lafayette. At first it was a temporary situation, but it turned into a permanent one. That day was the start of me moving to West Lafayette and of course everything changed for me then. It is kind of weird how much things can change during the course of one day. I really found photography that day, and took on a job that would alter the course of my life. It is hard to believe that it has been fifteen years since that date.
