Outside The Pinola Saloon
You may be asking yourself about the name Pinola. It is the name that I chose for my business years ago. I wanted something not so attached to me like my own name so I chose this small little town just outside of LaPorte. My father used to talk about this town like it was a huge metropolis when he was on work trips. He would talk about the huge traffic jams and crowds that it would draw. Of course the little town has the saloon which used to also have a grocery store attached to it. The volunteer fire department which you can see in the background here, and a fur house pretty much were the three main buildings in town. Inside of this saloon though we used to have a ton of fun. In the old days Lou was still behind the bar and convinced us that a little salt in our draft beers made it better. We always did it because she said so. I have not been inside of this bar in years. I kind of like the memories that we made in the old days. Seeing a bar that looks completely different would just take away those memories a little.
50 For 50
This is going to be a crazy theme. For the next fifty days I plan on posting a photo of a place that has some meaning to me. Last August I came up with a theme for a week showing some Purdue memories. At the end of this fifty days I will turn fifty. I thought that it would be fun to take a look back at some places that bring back memories for me. This can’t be an all inclusive list, but one that I hope will be fun for you as well as me.
