Watching Pam Bliss Paint
I have admired the work of Pamela Bliss for a while now. Her larger than life murals of Reggie Miller and Kurt Vonnegut tower over their parts of Indianapolis. A few weeks ago my oldest let me know that a mural was going up in an alley downtown. I was excited to see more art in town so I went to see the process. I found out who was painting the mural and was very excited. Pamela is a talented artist with a very unique style from what I am used to seeing. This is a cool mural that was put up before the funding was secured for it. If you like what you see when you visit it you can donate to the fund here. That covers the fee to hire Pamela along with everything needed to maintain the wall.
A Different Style
All of the artists that I have photographed painting mural so far have used spray cans to do the work. Pamela has a much different approach using a paint brush and adding the layers to the wall that way. It is a little slower way, but the talent required is pretty impressive. It was really cool to see this mural go up in stages.
More Photos Of The Process
I didn’t cover this mural like I have others in town. The timing was not right for that. I did try to get down there when I could to make photos. It was fun to guess what was coming next, or to see a part that already looked great look even better with some finishing touches. Below are a few more photos from the process.
