Recess Kickball

Yesterday I talked about pitching games against a wall. Today I will talk about playing kickball at recess. This is the parking lot for St. Joseph’s church. On weekdays though it was our playground for recess. Not far from where I was when I made this photo was a square on the ground that was home plate. Of course when I was up I was always aiming to hit the ball over that fence. The grey house in the background used to be a candy shop called Sage’s. We used to be the cool catholic school kids standing out front making our bubble gum cigarettes puff ‘smoke’ after buying them. Up against the church when we couldn’t get a kickball game going we would trade cards if the weather was good. I made a lot of trades for Carlton Fisk cards right up against that church. There are a lot of fun memories in this one photo.

50 For 50

This is going to be a crazy theme. For the next fifty days I plan on posting a photo of a place that has some meaning to me. Last August I came up with a theme for a week showing some Purdue memories. At the end of this fifty days I will turn fifty. I thought that it would be fun to take a look back at some places that bring back memories for me. This can’t be an all inclusive list, but one that I hope will be fun for you as well as me.
