A Pelican Invasion At The Celery Bog

The White Pelican Brings Some Friends To The Celery Bog

Not that long ago a couple of pelicans spent a couple of days at the Celery Bog while on their migration. They apparently gave it rave reviews because about thirty more showed up a couple of days ago. For the most part the birds stayed farther away, but a few of them did move away from the larger pack to fish which was very interesting to watch. This is that time of year just before things really start to get interesting at the bog, and it is always good to have something new show up. When they show up in great numbers it is even better.

Changing Plans

I went out to the bog to see the screech owl in good light. One thing that I always talk about on the blog is seeing when it is time to scrap your plan. This was an easy choice to scrap my original plan and to photograph the birds that are rarely at the bog. When the light is good the water looks great at the bog. It has a nice blue look to it.

  1. Maybe that’s were all our went, Dave. 🙂 There’s one pair that’s stayed but the others aren’t around. It’s quite impressive to see a group of them, isn’t it?

    1. I never thought that I would see this many here. I really thought that it was a one day thing, but they are still here. They are a very impressive sight to see for sure. Hopefully this is a sign of a great spring.
