Fireworks Over Lafayette
Last night we went up to Lafayette to celebrate the 4th of July. The Stars and Stripes Celebration put on by the two cities is always a good one. The highlight of the night is the fireworks show. I left the plaza to get up to the roof of a nearby parking garage with this photo in mind. Independence Day hit a little differently this year. It felt like independence from a lot of things after a year of quarantine.
The Lafayette Citizens Band Concert
This year was the first year that I went down for the concert in Riehle Plaza. I am usually somewhere getting ready for the fireworks photo. This year though I just had a short walk to my location so I listened to the first half of the show. When the band played the Purdue fight song I got goosebumps. The rest of the songs are good, but I started thinking about this fall and the fact that the fans and the band will be back at sporting events. I started thinking about a packed Ross Ade Stadium in just a couple of months. I didn’t realize just how ready I was for things to get back to normal until I started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Below are a couple of bonus photos from a fun night in downtown Lafayette.
