Checking In On The Great Horned Owl Family
A couple of days ago I had a nice fun post on this blog. A very stupid decision led to a lot of stress for owls and humans alike on Monday. As of this writing only one of the two owlets has been spotted, but luckily the mother is back for at least that one. It is unbelievable that someone would run chainsaws under an active owl nest. I am still scratching my head trying to figure out why something like this was even thought of let along carried out. When it is the person who runs the park it is even more mind boggling. I guess that things getting checked off a to do list is more important than the wildlife in the nature preserve that you run.
The Little One Is Getting Bigger
Tuesday I was only able to get out to the bog for a short time during lunch. During that time one of the owlets was active and interacting with the mother. After the events of the day before this was a welcome sight.
More Photos From My Lunch
Here are the rest of the photos that I made while out at the bog during lunch. The first photo was made on Monday night when the owlets were all alone.
Thanks for the update, Dave. I’ve been wondering how it went and your photos do a great job of showing what they’re up to.

Thank you very much. It has been fun following along with them. I have one more update scheduled for tomorrow before I go into sports mode for a couple of days.
