The Great Egret At The Celery Bog

A Great Egret Takes Flight At The Celery Bog

One bird that I don’t often see at the Celery Bog is the Great Egret. They do not seem to be around when I am out there. The last couple of weeks though have been amazing for them. I have had multiple birds to photograph when I have been out there. With multiple birds your chances for a lucky encounter increase dramatically. I am still waiting for the great photo of the bird feeding, but that will come with time.

What Makes The Egret Great?

It must be hard to go through life with the title great before your name. If you have a bad day, and your work is not the best I am sure that you hear about it from the other egrets. You are just a mediocre egret. Most days though these birds are doing great things at the bog and living up to their name.

  1. 🙂 Come to Arizona. The Riparian Preserve here in Gilbert has a number of great egrets, although they’re vastly outnumbered by the snowy egrets who have no sense of dignity. They’re always rushing around and goofing off. 🙂 But yesterday I found a great blue heron and a great egret quite close together, just being stately and waiting for just the right bite to show up.
