Sunset At Bob Friend Field

Baseball Sunsets

One of my favorite things to photograph are baseball sunsets. When these two come together they are pretty cool. Last night the sunset was looking pretty boring until just before the sun went down. A few clouds to the west gave me some hope. With a shortage of time to work with I made the short trip to the baseball field in my neighborhood. I am glad that I did.

Wide Or Tight?

I went to the field with this wide angle photo in mind. There is something simple about a high school baseball field. It is pretty open. I wanted to use the wide angle lens to show that. When I was there I started to like the tight composition better. This wide photo is still pretty cool, but I like how simple the tight photo is. Which one do you like the best?

Five Months Of No Sports

Five months ago today I photographed my last sporting event. It was senior day for Purdue men’s basketball. At the time I was thinking that I might not photograph another basketball game again during the school year. With the way that things work it is always up in the air for me. Little did I know that it would be a long time before I photographed sports again. As I write this I have no idea when I will be back on the field again. This is a crazy time to be a freelancer. Sports photography is my passion. It does not pay the bills though, and I don’t know if it ever will. It is what I love to do. These last few months though have taught me that relying no any income from sports is not a good business model. Here is my blog post from March. It is kind of crazy to try and get back into my head at that time. I had no idea what was about to hit me and my business.
