Another Season Of Purdue Women’s Basketball
Before my volleyball game Sunday afternoon I stopped by Mackey Arena to watch about a quarter and a half of the Purdue women’s exhibition game. The intent was to work on a couple of technical issues, but I also wanted to make some basketball photos from the baseline. I have three jobs coming up this week so I wanted to make sure that I was where I needed to be skill and gear wise.
Two Of A Kind
In the old days I would use my flagship camera for most of the action, and then use my slower camera for the wide angle action. I didn’t have enough for two flagship cameras. With the Sony cameras I could afford two of the Sony A9’s. I was expressly thinking about basketball when I purchased the second camera. I have used it as a second body before, but it will never be more used than in basketball. I loved having a fast body as my second camera as well.
Nobody asks me for any input, but I absolutely love these new women’s basketball uniforms for Purdue. They look sort of old school and new school at the same time. They are very well done. I haven’t seen the road uniforms yet, but I hope that they match up well with these.
I am terrible because I really don’t follow college recruiting anymore. I hear and see things in passing, but I never know who the new crop of Boilers will be until these tune up games. There were a lot of new faces on the court Sunday. It will be fun watching them mature as athletes over the coming years. Before you know it I will be photographing their senior day.
A Leg Saver
If you have photographed on the baseline of a game before then you may have experienced the dead leg syndrome as you try to get up and move to the other end of the court. Every game I have had my legs fall asleep during a game. This year in addition to my floor seat I bought a cushion off of Amazon for my chair. It is supposed to help with Sciatica in an office chair, but it really helped my floor seat feel more comfortable. It will be interesting to see how it fairs over the course of the season. After a couple of uses though I can say that I am hooked already. I should have bought one a long time ago.
The Week In Photos
This was a week with a little volleyball, basketball, and football. I also made some bird photos as well as some fall photos. It felt like a different week photographically which is always a good thing. You can see my favorite photos from last week here.
