More Time At The Bog
I really am having trouble coming up with these titles when I have a post a day. I decided to just name the bird that is featured at the top of the blog post. Of course the way that Facebook decides to use photos it always uses the bottom photo of my blog. I haven’t gotten to that point yet, but whatever bird that is will be the image used. Hopefully that doesn’t inform anyone. When I was walking around I was bummed out because I was not seeing warblers. When I got home I realized that I had made some good photos of some birds that I had not had good luck with yet. I think that I am spoiled by all of the activity at the bog. I saw over 50 species on this day, and for some reason I left feeling down. That is crazy. In the middle of winter I would kill for any of these shots.
Waiting On The Heron
I found a heron on a cool perch on the backside of the bog, and I decided to wait and see if it would get any prey. I waited for quite a while with no luck. With the heron that is what you do. When it was actively fishing I thought that I would have a good photo, but a mushroom hunter with two barking dogs scared the heron off. If I made the perfect heron shot now what would I go back for later?
Got You Indigo Bunting!
One bird that I knew early on was the indigo bunting. Of course when I made the photo last year I had no idea what it was. It was just a cool blue bird. A birder down the trail told me what I had seen. Being a baseball fan the term bunting stuck with me. It was one of the first that I could id. It is also one of the hardest to make a nice photo of. Thursday on this trip I was able to make some photos of a few that I liked. They have really invaded the woods so now is the time.
Everything Is Upside Down
I liked the way that this photo turned out. It is a flycatcher at the bottom of some branches, but I thought that it could be flipped to look like the bird was upside down. Sometimes it is fun to play around with peoples expectations a bit. This was one that could have been edited either way. At the end of the day I like the original the best.
