Bank on Snow During the Purdue Spring Break
It seems as if it is a given that when Purdue goes on spring break, one last snow will happen. Up north where I am from they have been getting hit with lake effect snow. There is something about the timing of the Purdue spring break that means snow. As the snow started falling early this week I chuckled to myself that it is kind of par for the course. Tuesday night I went flying above Mackey Arena around sunset with my DJI Phantom 4 Pro. I had a couple of ideas with my quadcopter that I wanted to get out of my system. As I was doing it I decided to get one more idea out as well. I have always wanted to make this photo of the name Purdue on the north end zone seats. I was very happy with the way you could still read Purdue in the end zone as well so I changed up my composition on the fly so to speak. This is a simple photo, but that is why I think that it works.
More Snow Coming In
When I made my way to campus the clouds looked like they would produce an amazing sunset. More snow came in though making the great sunset just a nice blue hour. I still liked this idea though so I thought that I would include it here. This is a different way for me to make a panorama. I made my image by making one photo of the stadium, and then panning up to get more of the clouds up top. The camera on the Phantom 4 Pro is better than previous models, but it doesn’t have the field of view that they do. I have had to come up with some interesting ways to get everything into the shot that I want. I may have to try this shot again sometime when the conditions are a little better.
When Does Football Start Again?
I love college football. There is no doubt about that. This past year things got in the way so that I was not able to make all of the Purdue games at Ross Ade Stadium. As of right now it looks like I will at least miss one this next season as well. This really is a great place to watch college football, and I wish that I had more opportunities to do so there. This place has come a long way since my first trip there in 1995, and it is still improving to this day. In a few days I will have another post showing the progress on the new addition to the football experience at Purdue.
