Soccer Season is Here Again

Last night the light was good, and thanks to Twitter I saw that the West Lafayette Girls Soccer team was playing just down the road. This is the time of year that I start really transitioning into the fall sports. I have not shot a real soccer match since the end of the college regular season last year. I knew that I needed to knock some of the rust off so I grabbed my lens and went down to the field. I made it during the second half with the score tied at zero. I spent the majority of my early time at the field sitting on one picture that I wanted to make. There was a great shaft of light about a quarter of the way into the field, and I had my camera set up for that spot. It was easily 1.5 to 2 stops brighter than everything else, and if anything had come into that spot it would have been a good shot. Of course it didn’t so I moved a little and shot some action to get back into the swing of things. I had a good time shooting for the short time that I was there, and I look forward to more soccer soon.

Football Season is Getting Close

Yesterday before I left for the soccer game I checked the mail and found my Purdue football credentials in there. This time of fall is always exciting because football is right around the corner. If you read this blog regularly then you know that I love baseball. I love everything about the sport. I also love football. Football is the sport that I played (although too long ago to be relevant), and I seem to know it the best. I can’t wait to spend Saturdays at Ross Ade Stadium again this fall. There are a lot of playmakers on this squad that make for good photographs. It will be fun seeing just how far they have come in the off season. This football season promises to be a great one with one very cool road trip already planned early on.
