The Historic Door Prairie Barn in LaPorte, Indiana

One feature of LaPorte that I love to photograph is the Door Prairie barn. This barn has stood the test of time, and now has become a sort of welcome sign for those entering LaPorte on highway 35. I really try and get out to the barn most times that I come back to town. With the change of the seasons comes a different looking barn. Here the ground around the barn looks bare with the snow covering it. Near the end of summer this view would not be possible most years because the corn is so tall in front of the barn. It is really fun photographing this historic landmark of LaPorte.

Back In LaPorte Again

This weekend I will be back in my hometown to photograph a wedding. I have now been away for long enough that I really feel like a stranger in the town that I lived in for so long. Things like the barn above stay the same, but much changes. Certain parts of town don’t even look the same anymore. It is now coming up on five years since I moved to West Lafayette for the second time. The little town that I used to call home has changed a lot in that time. I really need to take a day to go around and photograph all of the things that make LaPorte what I remember it.
