Concentration

Photo of the Day

Last night I shot my first basketball game of 2014. A series of events made it impossible to shoot a game before today. Needless to say I was raring to go when the game started. I normally do not fill up a memory card during a basketball game, but last night I filled it up pretty early. I was overshooting for sure, but it was good to get back out and shoot. I have a couple of more basketball games this weekend so I should feel back to normal when that is all said and done. Part of overshooting the game was making some images that I don’t normally make. I was having some fun with dead space during moments when I already had my shot. The image above came from one of those moments. I already had my shot of KK Houser at the free throw line so I decided to add some dead space on the right hand side of the photo. In the end I love how everything lined up here. The Nike and Purdue logos are very visible, and KK has a great expression on her face.

Technical Data

This was an easy edit. I converted the photo to black and white in Lightroom. From there I adjusted the highlights and the contrast a bit to get the look that I wanted. It is a simple edit, but one that I think added to the photo.

Bonus Photos

Here are some bonus shots from the game last night.
