Photo of the Day
You read about things in the paper and see them on the news all the time telling yourself that it is far away, and not near you. Yesterday the news happened very near me. Details are still not fully available, but for some reason a former member of the student newspaper walked into a classroom and shot another student. As the events were unfolding the campus was on lockdown with rumors spreading all over the place. This just goes to show you that you need to hug your loved ones every chance that you get. You never know when it is your time. I read a lot of people’s reaction to the incident yesterday. A lot of it had to do with the fact that they never thought that it could happen here at Purdue. When I was down here in the mid 90’s something very similar happened in a residence hall. The campus has pulled together though, and seeing the way that people have been showing their school pride is really great. It is horrible though that it takes something like this to bring it out. I won’t name the shooter here as to give him more publicity. I will say that even though I didn’t know you Andrew Boldt, seeing some of your photos brought this very close to home. For one family this was too close to home though. I cannot even begin to imagine what they have gone through in the last few hours. May you rest in peace, and your killer brought to justice.
Technical Data
It seems very silly talking about technical data on a picture after what I wrote above. I went for the infrared look here. I used a Trey Ratcliff preset called ‘An Infrared Morning’ to start off. I then adjusted the exposure to get what I wanted. The last bit of work here was a little spot removal to get rid of a few distracting elements in the photo.

Seems like one of those “It could never happen here!” things. Sad.
