Photo of the Day
Last night the Purdue Football team played a great game under the lights at Ross Ade Stadium. Most people did not give them a chance, but they came out with something to prove. The lost the game 31-24, but they played #21 Notre Dame close. I photographed the Wabash Football game earlier in the day so I was used to being on the sidelines of a game. When I arrived at the football game I saw faces that I normally stand next to on the sidelines down on the field. Instead of pouting that I didn’t have the access that I wanted I did something else. I went to the top of the stadium to get a different shot. I actually thought that being in the scoreboard would have been great last night. With the black and gold scheme by sections and the setting sun I think that a great picture could have been made there. Instead I sat at the end of the horseshoe to try and capture what I could from there. I liked the idea of a full stadium shot. Most people were up close to the entrance of the players. One photographer was even in the back of the special as it led the players onto the field. I wanted something completely different. This overall shot is one that tells the larger picture.
Technical Data
This scene would have been a great candidate for HDR the problem is that everything is moving down below. I took the single RAW file into Lightroom, and brought out all of the details that were in the file. I brought back some of the highlight and shadow detail. It was walking a fine line editing the photo. I wanted something that looked close to what I saw on the scene. With this high of a dynamic range I was happy with what I came up with. My only regret is that I did not have my fisheye with me last night. I had to pick three lenses so I left the fisheye at home. That lens might have helped me capture even more of the scene. I will post some of my panoramic pictures later in the week.

Beautiful. Great Job. Lighting and sharpness are wonderful. I love the blimp in the sky.
I was yelling at the blimp to hurry up, and thankfully it made it over the stadium just in time. Thank you for the kind words.
