Photo of the Day
Tonight I still did not have a picture during dinner. It was a long day at work followed by a drive up north to my hometown. During the meal I found out that the Travelling Wall was on the campus of Purdue North Central just down the road. I have seen the 50% version of this, but not this 80% version. As I have said before on this blog I have never served. That does not mean that I don’t respect the price that some men paid for what they believed in. I titled the picture the way I did because I thought that it had two meanings. Part of this travelling display was a very large POW flag that is hoisted by a crane. Part of the cost that I described are the men that never come back. Another way to look at the title is the lone figure in the frame. He is keeping the place of someone on the wall while his wife went to get something to rub the name with. When that person on the wall was lost he was left behind. War is not pretty by far, and this memorial shows you just how costly it can be. I always have a weird feeling when I see the wall. I have seen two duplicates of it now, as well as the actual wall in Washington D.C. You have to wonder what would these men have done had they been able to live out the rest of their lives? We will never know.

Technical Data
On a lighter note I did very little to this picture. I adjusted the exposure and clarity in Lightroom. A small crop also took out a couple of distracting elements that didn’t need to be there. In the end I felt that I captured the moment, and I didn’t need any tricks to convey the emotion of the scene.
