15 Years Of The Photo Blog!

Time Flies

Fifteen years ago today I had the crazy idea to start this blog. I already had a bad sports blog where I made terrible predictions and posted my photos from the stands. I had been doing that for five years, but it was just for sports. I wanted a blog to follow a photo 365 project that I was going to start. The idea was to run this blog for that year and then no more. I found in that time that I really enjoyed making photos and writing about them. I decided to go for another year. As we got near ten years I started to get burned out. Writing a post a day for ten years is a lot. I made the decision to get to ten and quit. Of course before I got there I found a second wind. I am now putting out two posts a weekday and sometimes three now. I have found a way to make this fun and also keep with the original intent which was to help me improve my photography. What a journey this fifteen years has been. I took my Canon 60D back to where it all started last Friday to make another photo with it. I knew that I didn’t have any long lenses to make sports photos so I knew that the photo had to be made early in the night and up close. The captains walk seemed like the right time to try it out. This photo looks a lot like something I would have liked 15 years ago.

The First Photo

This was the first photo of this blog. I was seeing a lot of people doing photo 365 projects at the time, and I had thought about starting one. When I made this photo I thought that it was so good I had to show it to people. It is hard to believe looking at this photo, but at the time I really thought that I was making stuff worthy of Sports Illustrated. Of course now I can see all of the things wrong with it, but it is the photo that got this blog going. Here is a link to that first blog post from so long ago.
