Just Give Me A Wall
I lived in a house next to this YMCA for a summer in 1985. The place where that house was is now a parking lot. An addition has been put on the outside of the Y now, but the top of the old building can still be seen in this photo. I had some super bouncy balls that I would win at the Polish Carnival every year. They were about the size of a baseball, but crazy bouncy. They helped me learn to anticipate any kind of bounce. I would throw those balls up against the wall of the Y for hours at a time that summer. That summer Tom Seaver was on his way to win #300 for his career. I would pretend I was Tom and pitch complete games. There was a square on the wall in the perfect spot for a strike zone. I would use that and throw way more pitches than a nine year old should probably be throwing. My arm does not like throwing anymore, but man I would love to have another chance to throw up against this wall. I bet I could at least throw a fake inning.
50 For 50
This is going to be a crazy theme. For the next fifty days I plan on posting a photo of a place that has some meaning to me. Last August I came up with a theme for a week showing some Purdue memories. At the end of this fifty days I will turn fifty. I thought that it would be fun to take a look back at some places that bring back memories for me. This can’t be an all inclusive list, but one that I hope will be fun for you as well as me.
