The Lights On The Wabash County Courthouse

The Story Of The Wabash County Courthouse Lights

In 1880 Charles Brush and the city of Wabash, Indiana decided to try and experiment. They put four lights up on the courthouse to try and light the town. That little experiment worked and the city of Wabash become the first city to be illuminated by light. At the time it was a big deal and people came from all over to see these lights. Replicas of those lights are on the courthouse now, and they drew this guy from his hotel room at night to make this photo.

Capturing The Lights

I took the drone up just before dusk to make this photo of the courthouse and the lights on top of it. The lights are so bright that you can overexpose the image a little to make blue hour come a bit quicker. That is good news when you have a drone in the air. I wanted to make this photo to see the lights a little closer. This is a unique courthouse, town, and story so it made sense to have some fun with a photo.
