The Sturgeon Moon Rises Over Purdue

The Sturgeon Moon Over Purdue

Last night I was back on campus lining the moon up with the Purdue clock tower. This is a really fun kind of photography. It is the most like sports photography because of the nature of it. I am not the best at getting the spot entirely correct so you have that decisive moment when you find out if what you calculated was correct. When you see that huge moon starting to rise the adrenaline rush is very similar to what I feel when I make sports photos. Last night required a little bit of running around, but it was worth it in the end.

Getting It Right

A couple of weeks ago I talked about watching the movie Tick..Tick…Boom. Someone in this house has been playing the soundtrack at times and one of the songs talks about doing it over and over until you get it right. That is how I feel about this photo. At some point I am just making photos of the moon and the clock tower over and over, but the best part about photography is that rarely do you make the perfect photo. You have to keep trying over and over until you get it right.
