Ruby The Queen Of The Celery Bog

Visiting Ruby The Queen Of The Celery Bog

Near the beginning of the year I made my way out to the Celery Bog with one photo in mind. My first photo out there this year was going to be of Ruby the eastern screech owl that hangs out near one of the walking trails. As I pulled in I saw the familiar red in the hole of the tree so I knew that I would have a good day.

Waiting For The Eyes

I spend way too much time kneeling on the trail waiting for Ruby to open her eyes and look at me. On this trip that did not happen, but I was able to make some photos of other behavior. She opened her eyes a few times in the other direction, but never my way. At the very bottom of this post is a very wide open eye photo just after a cooper’s hawk flew through the woods. Ruby was very interested in what was going on there. Spending the time with Ruby though has to happen to get that great eye open photo that I am looking for.
