31 Ballparks Of May: #7 Shea Stadium

Seeing Shea Stadium

As I talked about in my Yankee Stadium post we made the trip to New York in 2008 with a chance to see both New York ballparks in the same weekend. We got into town on Friday night and the rain was really coming down. I was the only one excited about that I think because I knew that it meant that I would see a doubleheader the next day. 18 innings of baseball in old Shea was a great way for me to visit the stadium.

The Classic Shea Stadium View

I know that this stadium was not considered great by many, but I really liked it. For some reason the older ballparks just had a cool charm to them. This view could have been made at any time in the history of the park. I love that you cannot see the new stadium in the background. A few older cars in the frame and it could really have left you guessing.
