Photographing College Football: Purdue vs. Indiana

Purdue Faces Indiana For The Old Oaken Bucket

Each year the regular season ends with Purdue taking on Indiana for the Old Oaken Bucket. This year it was also the season finale. This has been a crazy year for Purdue with injuries taking out many key pieces for the team. When you finish the season with your fourth string running back then you should expect to lose. The crazy thing about the year though is that even with the injuries to many key spots on the team I expected them to win. They expected to win too. They took one of the best IU teams in recent memory to double overtime. The record will not show it, but this team got a lot better this year. When next season starts there will be some players that were able to perform, and perform at a high level that would never had gotten that chance without the injuries. I am already thinking big things for the team next year.

Photographing My Last Football Game Of The Year

There are two sports that I absolutely can’t get enough of photographing. Those are baseball and football. I have some that I really enjoy photographing as well, but baseball and football are the two for me. When baseball season ends I can fall back on football. When football season ends it usually means that my sports schedule really clears as well. I have a sparse amount of basketball on it right now, but for the most part this is the dry season until baseball gets going again.

A Great Gallery

This was the last Purdue football gallery that this team will put together this year. I can’t describe how much fun I have making images with these folks during the year. For the couple of years prior I was the one that made the photo. I had no backup, and the pressure was always on to make the picture. With a team that I trust around me I didn’t feel that same pressure. I could take chances which always makes things more fun. You can check out our last gallery of the season here.

The Week In Photos

As I said last week with the holiday my photography schedule was pared down last week. I still made some really good photos when I was able to get out to make them. You can see my favorite photos from last week here.

Taking It All In

This was the 7th season that I was able to make photos from the sidelines at Purdue. The second year that I was able to be a part of this Purdue photo team. Before the game I kind of took a look around to take it all in. It doesn’t seem like that long ago that I was making photos from me seat in the stands. I always think about how lucky I am to get to do what I do, and before a big game like the one Saturday that is something that I always think about. As I reflect on the 7th season I can’t help but think about how much fun season eight could be.
