My Backyard Birds: The White Breasted Nuthatch

The White Breasted Nuthatch Makes A Visit

One of my favorite birds that visits my backyard is the white-breasted nuthatch. It has a unique way of moving around that is just fun to photograph. They spend most of their time upside down which is a welcome change to the normal bird on a stick photos that I seem to make. I am always happy when these little guys show up. Now I just need to find their red breasted cousins.

Waiting For The Right Moment

The photo above is the pose that I want to capture from this bird. It just looks amazing to me. I love the gesture. They only make this gesture for a short period of time though. You have to be ready for it or you will miss it. I made a few photos of this bird that I liked, but something was always a bit off. The light wasn’t right or I just missed focus by a bit. Here everything came together for a nice picture.
