Back at Austin City Limits For Another Year
Music is a big part of my life and my photography. I love music. Music is usually involved at some point of the photography process for me. Usually every edit has a song behind it, and sometimes that music can help inform the edit that I give a photo. This year I was not as active making pictures at ACL as I was last year. I did get lucky a few times that I was in the right place at the right time. The photo above was one of those moments. I was sitting with my family watching The Revivalists when I realized the sun was in a perfect spot for a nice starburst photo. I stood up and made this photo, and then went back to listening to music. This was a relaxing weekend, and part of the reason for that is that I was not always worried about the next shot.
Maybe I Chased the Light Once
I did go after the light one time as the light evened out I wanted my main stage and skyline photo. This year the acts have not been on the main stage as the sun has set, but there is enough light up there to get the point of the photo across. The sea of people lining up for the last act on the main stage is always amazing. This is a great view of Austin that tells a lot about the city. This is a music based city so why not make this photo?
The Week In Photos
Last week was a fun week in another state playing with some newer technology. For a week my dSLR was pushed aside so that I could play with a mirrorless camera. Almost every photo in my weekly roundup of my favorite photos was made with the Sony rX1 II or my iPhone 7 Plus. You can take a look at my favorite photos of the week by clicking here.
Ending The Night On A High Note
We finished our night watching The xx on the Honda stage. They put on such an artistic show that I felt that I had to make a picture of it. Here a lot was working in my favor as I made my photo. I worked this for about a minute or so to time the shutter to open right when the light hit me. With a little shutter lag it took a second longer than it should have, but in the end I made the photo that I had in my mind. I love the colors here, and this quickly became one of my favorite concert photos that I have made so far.
