Sunset On The Beach In Ocean City

A Great Sunset In Ocean City, Maryland

As I write this I am heading back home from Ocean City, Maryland. This is my sixth year at the beach, and each year I find something to bring me back again. This year on our first full day in town we had the most beautiful sunset happen. At first I was going to be content to just photograph it from the balcony of our condo. Then I realized how special it was going to be, and I hurried down to the beach. I wish that I had a camera on my recording myself because I am sure that it was fun to watch me run around to get as many photos as I could while the light was good. It was an amazing sunset, and I knew that I had to make as many photos as I could while it was happening. The photo above is one of my favorites from that sunset as well as the entire trip. Over the course of the next couple of weeks I am sure that photos from the trip will start popping up on the blog. At a place like Ocean City it is not hard to find good subjects. The key is to try and do something new on the trip.

Finding New Subjects

The problem with going somewhere every year is that your subjects seem to shrink up. I try not to make the same photo every year, but that does end up happening. On one of our first days I found myself making the same image of the man air brushing a shirt as I did the year before. I did my best to get out and find new angles at least on familiar subjects. If I could not do that, then I would wait until I had better light to photograph them. The photo above is one such example. With the great blue and orange light at sunset I was able to get a photo unlike anything else that I had made in the past. Maybe that is why it is one of my favorites.
