Catching Up On This Year’s Pierogi Fest in Whiting, Indiana

Last year we made our first trip to the Pierogi Fest in Whiting, Indiana. We had always thought of going, but never made the trip. From West Lafayette to LaPorte to Whiting ends up being about a six hour round trip when it is all said and done. That is a long way to go for pierogi’s. The good thing about the Pierogi Fest is that it is so much more than pierogi’s. They have good music, interesting people, and many other things to keep you interested while you are there. Last year we went because of some photos that we saw on NWILife.com. This year we went because we had so much fun last year. Next year we will go back because it will have then become a great tradition for us.

Keep on Dancing

If you have ever met my daughter then you probably know that she likes to dance. She is only two, but dancing is one of the great joys in her life. For her one of the highlights of the weekend is the traditional dancing displays. She gets to see some dancing, and I get to show her a little bit about her heritage. If they repeat the steps enough she will eventually join in from the side of the street as they are dancing. To keep on dancing though you need to keep hydrated and fueled. You have plenty of options for that at Pierogi Fest. It will be fun to see how she reacts to the festival as the years go by.

Here are a few other photos that I made on the day. I really did not pull the camera out much except to document my daughter’s day at the festival. For a day I was having fun with my daughter. I did however find a couple of moments to make some photos that did not include her. They are below.
