Washington Defeats Vanderbilt to Advance in the NCAA Tournament

Washington Mounts a Furious Comeback to Advance

For a lot of people the story of this regional was Vanderbilt and how they would react to the loss of one of their own. Before I heard the news I had them easily penciled in to advance. I could not imagine the weight that they felt on their shoulders as they played this weekend. They are still a good team, and it took an amazing comeback by Washington to oust them from the playoffs. As I normally do I followed the team I am covering after the game. The emotion was great, and I just kept shooting. I shot for a while after the game, and then I had to leave the field to upload my images. The exit was past the Vandy bench, and I was shocked to see the team still sitting there. It was a somber moment when you realized what was going on. This has been an interesting weekend because of the events that have transpired.

Shooting a Multi-Day Tournament

When you are shooting multiple games in the span of a couple of days it is easy to get into a rut and keep doing the same things over and over. I have tried to find new locations to make images from the keep my images looking fresh. Here are Vandy they do not like photographers shooting from the stands. They do have a photo area in front of the dugout that lets you have the view above. I love the view, and it allows me to change things up a bit.

Bonus Photos

Here are a couple of bonus photos from the game that I liked. There was a lot of emotion, and that makes for photos that I remember. As time goes on I find myself shooting less and less action and moving to the emotional side of the game.
