Notre Dame Plays Two on Wednesday Night
Last night pretty much sums up how this year has been for me photography wise. At the last second I found out that I would be shooting both games of a doubleheader at Frank Eck Stadium between Notre Dame and LSU. A rain out Tuesday night made this rare weeknight doubleheader possible. It was scheduled to be two seven inning games. Of course you know that you will not see that when you arrive at the park. There is something about two easy quick games that makes me suspicious. Sure enough game one went eleven innings with plenty of long innings as any tight game would have. Game two was a quick seven inning game. Notre Dame dropped both games, but they were both very well played and pitched games. This was a night when either team could have gone home with two w’s.
Welcome Back Coach Paul Mainieri
Last night former Notre Dame coach Paul Mainieri was back in Frank Eck Stadium. Paul was the coach for most of the time that I was a season ticket holder for Notre Dame baseball. He took the program to places that it had never been before, and then left to coach LSU. You really cannot blame a coach who has success up north for moving to a good program down south. In college baseball the southern teams seem to really have many advantages so it is only natural that the best coaches usually end up down south. It was nice to see coach again, and he was gracious enough to let me make this portrait of him prior to the game.
MiLB Photos of the Week
This is the fourth week that MiLB has posted their photos of the week this season, and this is the fourth week that I have had a couple of photos in the gallery. You can view that gallery here. I see a lot of good photos come in over the course of the week from some great baseball photographers. It is an honor to be among them every week so far this year. With no minor league baseball on my schedule this week I will not have any photos in the gallery next week. That does not mean that I won’t go and check it out though. I love seeing what everyone is doing across minor league baseball.
