A Long Overdue Trip Back to Four Winds Field
When I lived in Northern Indiana I made many trips to what is now called Four Winds Field. My last few trips were in early 2011 before I moved to West Lafayette. Every trip to the stadium in 2011 would be different because the field was different every time. I never got to see the final result of all of the construction until last night. What I saw was amazing. They took a very basic single A ballpark, and transformed it into a great place to watch a baseball game. I saw very little to remind me of the park I used to visit. I spent some of the game photographing the game action, but I spent more time looking around the park. I will post some of my action photos tomorrow. For now enjoy some photos from last night of the stadium.
The Little Things That Make a Park Great
If you have visited enough parks then you know that most of them look the same. Here they have done a great job of making the park stand out with some great features. They have the kids zone in the outfield, but what I liked the most was the fountains in right field for the kids to play in. I made a few photos of it in some different light, but I liked the one above the best. This is a park that is now very unique. I think that the large amount of fans in the stands is a testament to what they accomplished with the renovation.
More Photos of Four Winds Field
Here are a few more photos of this great park. I had way too much fun there not to go back again this season. I was very lucky that a gorgeous sunset during the night along with some great light during the game. You really can’t ask for much more as a photographer when you are making photos of a stadium. As I said earlier I will have some game images tomorrow. For now though enjoy some more looks at Four Winds Field.
