Catching a Midwest Collegiate League Game

Last night I made the trip up to Whiting to see the Midwest Collegiate All Star game. The game was played at Oil City Stadium which is usually the home for the Northwest Indiana Oilmen. It was my first trip to Oil City Stadium, and I was very impressed with it. It really is a little gem that is hidden away near Lake Michigan. When you first walk up to the stadium it looks like a minor league park at the entrance. This park is very well done. You have the large brick wall in left field that you have to clear for a home run. You have the many great seats to watch a game. You also have the backdrop of the BP plant in the background. You wouldn’t think that it would be a nice backdrop, but when it is all lit up at night it is pretty cool. It is definitely something that you don’t see at other parks. This will not be my last trip to this ballpark for sure.

Bonus Photos

I made a few photos of the park last night during the game. Here are a few extra photos of this beautiful stadium. This week I will see a couple more stadiums, but it will be hard to beat the sunset that I saw last night at the park.
