Finding My Mountain Landscapes
I have often joked that here in the midwest my mountains are the windmills and barns. I don’t have the great geographical features to rely on to make photos. I have to just find the things that make the midwest what it is. Yesterday while out driving around I made a few nice photos of some barns. They will probably end up on this blog in the next few weeks. Then I spotted this barn. I am glad that my one year old daughter was the only person in the car with me when I saw the backside of this barn. I was already going to make a photo of it, but when I saw the American flag on it I made the joyous sound that I make when I really like something in my viewfinder. I doubled back to make a few images of the barn. I tried a few things so that I was not left with just one image to choose from. I worked the scene a bit until I found this angle. It just seemed to work a little better than the other angles that I found.
Back to the Barn
I have made a photo of this barn before. When I first rented the 5D Mark III I went out to make some photos of the Milky Way. I had just about given up on finding something to place in the foreground when I saw this barn. I pulled over and made this shot here. Of course in the heat of the moment I did not mark my location. Luckily I figured out where I was, and now I have a couple of photos of this great barn.
