Photo of the Day
Last winter I really had a great time in Colorado. Part of the fun was watching the way that the night sky changed over Hahn’s Peak. I wish that I fully knew what I was in for. I did not know all of the tools that help with things such as seeing where the Milky Way is in the sky, or how to best capture it. Now that I know I think that I will have to return someday to see what kind of images that I could make. I barely slept on the trip because the nights were as beautiful as the days. I stayed in the bunkhouse down the path from the main cabin that everyone else was staying in. That little bit of freedom allowed me to be able to make pictures at any point in the night. You too can stay in the same bunkhouse. Here is a link to the online reservation form to reserve your spot. It is only $50 a night, and trust me it is well worth your time to do so. You have a great view of both the sunrise and sunset over a small pond with Hahn’s Peak always looking back at you.
Technical Data
This was a case of having one RAW image to work with, and a wide range of dynamic light in the scene. I really massaged the image in Lightroom to try and get all of the light to show up like it was on the scene. It was a beautiful night, and thanks to Lightroom I can relive that night over and over.

Wooow this is my dream house
It is a great place that I lucky to have access to.
I love the light in this! Great composition, and when I say
light I also mean the shadows too. The light across the sky and the
light from the house. Very atmospheric.
Thank you very much.
Just startrted following: Wonderful images! Besides the obvious, this one intrigued me with the “handle” of the big dipper prominently rendered, including a star casually known as “the Rider” next to the middle star in the handle. Love this.
Thank you very much
