Photo of the Day
Today I had planned to use the new 70-200mm lens to shoot this famous barn in my hometown of LaPorte, IN. I planned to shoot it on my way out of town today. When I got to the barn I noticed that the clouds seemed to be perfect over the top of the barn. I decided that the clouds were the subject, and the barn was just something else of interest in the photo. I really do love this barn though, and I am sure that it will end up on this site again before it is all said and done. Today though it is just a little extra in the shot.
Technical Data
This is a three shot HDR image made with exposures of -2, 0. and +2. I ran the pictures through Photomatix to get my 32 bit image. I saved that file, and had it open in Lightroom where I could let the powerful sliders take over. I did adjust the white balance there adding a little warmth to the shot. I also added a little clarity, and upped the highlights a bit. This procedure has kind of become the standard for my landscape shots lately.
Kelby Worldwide Photowalk
Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over 1,000 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Nearly 17,000 walkers have already signed up so far. Activity has picked up a bit on the Purdue sites even with the short time being posted. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
