Day 334: Dharma

Photo of the Day

Dharma has yet to appear on this blog. In the short time that I have been going to Wolf Park she has been my favorite to photograph by far, but I have yet to put her on here. There has always been a shot that I felt was better. Today she made sure that she made it onto the blog by bounding onto this log. She was the only wolf in sight for much of the time, and it appeared as if she was posing for me. She kept looking right into my camera so I kept shooting. It is not everyday that a wolf eyes you up. Then again maybe she didn’t eat enough when she was fed yesterday.

Technical Data

This was probably the last shot with the 70-200mm 2.8 lens that I have been renting. It is due back tomorrow, and I will probably get the newer version of it when I do. I would like that to be this week, but you never know how things turn out. I really like how the lens acts though, and I especially like the power when I put on the 1.4x extender. I did touch this shot up a bit in Lightroom. I really had no magic formula as I had six candidates for this post, and all six shots looked very different. In the end I liked the eyes very much on this one so I picked it. This shot was also captured shooting through a fence. I ended up moving down later, and for some reason those did not come out as well. I should have stayed here at this angle I guess. Everything seemed to be perfect.

Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk

I have been slow in posting this here, but I was chosen to lead the Lafayette leg of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. I think right now close to one thousand walks are planned. I was too lazy to drive anywhere else so I decided to host one right here on Purdue’s campus. You don’t have to be a pro to go on the walk. Anyone with any type of camera can come along. We will start at 4:00 PM on October 13th. This should be just after the football game, and hopefully we can capture some great gameday moments as the campus sports its fall colors. If you want to join click here for the official entry form. I also have an event on Facebook here, and Google+ here as well. I may add a tab at the top in the future so that the data is always available. Until then I will just add it to every post so that we can get a few people to join. It is about taking pictures for sure, but it is also a great way to meet other local photographers in your area. The photowalk is also planning to give away some prizes as well for your pictures to give us some incentive to shoot. The plan is to have the post party at Jake’s after we are done. We can go over some of our pictures there as well. If you are too far away to attend here is a link to the worldwide page where you can find a walk in your area.

SmugMug Site

These trips do not pay for themselves. In order to keep traveling I have put some of my images from this site on SmugMug. This and other images are now available to purchase!
