Day 322: Finch in a Pinch

Photo of the Day

Today after work I went out once again with the 70-200 2.8 lens that I am renting. I didn’t have a specific shot in mind, but I had an idea of what I wanted. My plan was to get some kind of architechural feature in the city of Lafayette. Every time I saw something interesting there was way too much traffic around. People have no patience for art being made so I decided not to take the picture. I ended up near a pond that is known for having bald eagles that fish in it. I have really wanted a bald eagle shot for a while so why not give it another try? I saw no signs of the eagles, but I did see a few butterflies. On my way back to my car I spotted this yellow finch (he says with great conviction) near the exit. I couldn’t get close enough to really use the lens to it’s full capabilities, but I could try something. I knew that I would be cropping so I shot with that in mind. I was not really happy with a lot of what I shot today, but I was learning. This is the last thing that I shot so I guess I ended pretty well compared to where I started.

Technical Data

I really just opened this up in Lightroom to crop it. I tried a couple of things to change the image, but it was not anything that made the image better so I it the reset button. I just left it the way that it was apart from the crop. I had a couple of crop options in mind, but I went with the portrait look because I thought that it made this picture better than it was.
