Day 256: Dinner Time!

Photo of the Day

Tonight I was hoping to get a shot at the Hudson’s sitting in the field again when the sun was right. I took off about an hour before sunset with that in mind as my shot. Of course the Hudson’s were gone so I had to improvise very quickly. The sky was not set up for a good sunset at all. In all reality I did want to wait that long. I passed this scene going one way on a road while looking for something. I made the point to drive by a barn that I have photographed horses before at before turning around to get this shot. Out of the camera it was not my favorite, but I think that it turned out okay.

Technical Data

I was not sure how to go about processing this picture. One of the underexposed shots was a nice silhouette of the windmill and the barn. I didn’t think that enough of the barn was showing to go with that version of the shot though. I ran this through Photomatix using six exposures because of the glaring sun. I then took the 0 exposure into Photoshop with the tonemapped image. I ran the normal exposure through Topaz Adjust 5 to give it a faux HDR look, and then masked in the moving cows to eliminate the ghosting there. That was not as easy as it could have been because the images did not line up. I had to do a bit of moving around to get what I wanted. In the end it is not my favorite shot, but it is not bad considering that I only took two today.
