Day 248: A Grand Evening

Saturday I attended a wedding of a childhood friend. They had a pro photographer (actually three), so I was not going to take any pictures. The beauty of the venues won out though as I had to get the camera out. This picture was taken at the reception hall late at night. I did not have a tripod so I had to do my best to keep the camera still to get a decently long exposure for my overexposed portion of the tone mapped image. I need to clean this one up a little, but for now this is the picture of the day. I don’t think that any picture could capture the beauty of this location. The reception was held at the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis. Every room seemed to be decorated in a way that has not been done for some time now. They hold tours of the building, and if they let me bring my tripod I may have to go on one. For this shot I wanted to capture the party as it was going on in HDR. When I have more time I will clean it up a little bit and get rid of some of the ghosting before I am happy with it. With a picture a day deadline though I will post this today. In the future I may post a better version of this just to show how nice the place could be.

  1. No wonder you took your camera out! I would have too! This place just looks amazing! I can’t believe this is where the reception was held. I hope I go to a wedding like this someday 🙂 (if not my own, then at least someone elses, haha!) Thanks for posting this! I love it 🙂
