Three Cameras At The Old Barn

Three Cameras At The Old Barn

I was out for a drive one day looking for subjects for my Canon 60D posts. I came across this barn and knew that it was perfect for that project, but also perfect for a three camera project. I had three cameras in the car so it made sense to make a few photos. I had my Canon 60D with me along with my Sony A7RIV and my Sony A7RIII with the infrared conversion. I ended up with three photos that I really liked. That is always a good problem to have.

Canon 60D With Canon 18-55mm Lens

This is the camera and lens that would have come together in some bundles at the store. This is not a pro camera setup by any means, but it does get the job done. In fact seeing it alongside the other photos on here I can’t tell much of a difference. If you pixel peep I am sure that you could see more flaws, but if you are doing that then I have failed the photo.

Sony A7RIV With Sony 24-105mm Lens

This used to be my go to combo for years. A fall from my tripod put the camera on the shelf for a few years. I finally got it back a couple of weeks ago so it was in the car with me on this trip. I paid enough to fix it up that I will have to take it with me everywhere now. What I like most about this camera is the 60mp sensor. I would let me crop right down to just the barn with no real problems printing. I won’t have to do that here, but I love the options that this gives me.

Sony A7RIII (Infrared) With Tamron 28-200mm Lens

This is my setup for infrared photography. I love the lens for walking around, and the look that the infrared camera gives me. Here it turns the sky black lets the few clouds in the sky pop. The foliage is still doing okay so it turns white here. A couple of weeks later and this photo would look a little different. I love the Ansel Adams looking photos that this camera gives me.

Verdict

This is the part of these posts where I pick the clear favorite. I really don’t have a clear favorite here. I really like the infrared look. If I just had that camera with me for this drive I would have been happy with it. For as old as it is the Canon 60D still does a great job even with a kit lens. The Sony A7RIV is a great camera that always gives great results. Just for fun I might call this one a tie. I really like all three images that I made. What do you think? Is there a favorite image from these three.
